the ultimate section hike

This beautiful and challenging hike takes place on the section of the Appalachian Trail running between Abol Bridge just south of Baxter State Park and Monson, Maine. While satisfying to complete, it is considered the wildest section of the AT, and is also one of the most challenging to navigate and traverse. The trail runs along mountain ranges and by lakes and streams. It requires serious preparation and planning in order to safely complete its 100 miles as it does not contain any traditional supply stops for food or water.
